Chapter I: BEFORE SAILING

On 4th April, 1912, Frank Browne received a pleasant surprise in the post: a letter from the White Star line offices in Queenstown, County Cork, enclosing a first-class ticket for the Titanic's maiden voyage from Southampton to Queenstown via Cherbourg. The ticket had been purchased for him by his uncle, Robert Browne, Bishop of Cloyne.
